Works For Loudspeakers is a quarterly event showcasing new and local sound-based composition. A selection from the first year is transplanted from an intimate close-listening environment in Wellington to the outdoor Alhambra Sound Garden in Christchurch. Shifts in listening perspectives may be observed.

IRD, Mike Minchington, Nicolas Woollaston – The CSSA’s favourite sons combine for a scorching improvised perfroamcne of noise, home-baked electronics, and pure virtuosity.
Teen Haters – Lytteltons drone luminaries conjure up soundscapes comprised of equal parts guitar feedback, cello and teen angst.
i .Ryoko – Neo-psychedelic mantras, electro-experimentation, and blazing walls of bright white noise from Wellington’s Thomas Lambert.
Flo Wilson – Electronic textures, beats and manipulated vocals.
Noel Meek – Fresh off the back of his tour of Japan and Indonesia.
DJ Comb Over – Auricle’s favourite in house DJ; a second hand electronics shop, meets a bad hair day.

Kraus – Described by The Wire magazine as “corrosive and masterful” and “quite groovy”, Kraus mixes a delicious pudding of psychedelic guitar and electronics to create a unique soundworld of steamy exotic forests and neon lasers. His new tape of modular synth improvisations entitled “Here Come the Recorders” is available for free stream/download via the Free Music Archive.

Embedded Figures is the electro-synth solo project of Amber Skye from Strange Harvest. A synthesis of the neon spray-painted rhythm of speed-racers and space-disco 90s boogie.
Embedded Figures is bringing with her fellow Dunedin duo Murdabike – robotic prophets of boom, with whispered vocals, live and in-effect, the beautiful analog – and also appearing will be local Christchurch neon synth drone ego-minor Instant Fantasy!!
This event is part of the Embedded Figures/Strange Harvest 2015 NZ tour

Black Series II focuses on process, the physicality of the materials and the making of the objects themselves, with abstract concepts of liminality being imparted on the objects by the creator. Wood, clay, paint and other malleable materials manipulated by the hand are paired together with specifically designed electronic sound. Contrast between maximal/ minimal elements, the sculpture as a whole and the detail upon the panels are important components. The visual and sonic elements of the work come together to envelop and repulse, to reflect and absorb the viewer.
Jason Wright is a composer and sound artist working across performance, sound installation and videography. Jason holds a Master of Music in Sonic Arts and Composition from New Zealand School of Music. Creator and curator of the Low Noise Exhibition series, Parliament 2013, Toi Poneke 2015.
